Prahlada's Contemplation and Realization
Day 166
Prahlada's Contemplation and Realization
Questioning the Ego and Delusion
Prahlada Reflects:
- Prahlada pondered the nature of the ego and delusion: "How has this finite, limited ego arisen within the infinite consciousness?"
- He questioned the origins of statements like "This is you" and "This I am."
- He wondered about the nature of the body, bodilessness, life, and death.
Rejecting Worldly Glory:
- He criticized his ancestors for abandoning the infinite consciousness and focusing on worldly matters.
- Prahlada compared the vision of infinite consciousness with worldly glory, deeming the former as pure and peaceful.
Saluting the Self
Prahlada’s Realization:
- Prahlada acknowledged his own self as the indwelling consciousness in all beings, free from objectivity and conceptualization.
- He recognized himself as unborn and the essence of all beings.
Rejecting Worldly Pleasures:
- He found no delight in ruling a kingdom, preferring the supreme joy of cosmic consciousness.
- Prahlada expressed disappointment in those who seek worldly pleasures over self-knowledge.
Realizing the Omnipresent Consciousness
Nature of Consciousness:
- Prahlada understood that everything, everywhere, and at all times is part of the omnipresent consciousness.
- This consciousness is the light in the sun and moon, the energy in the gods, and the essence of all elements and qualities in nature.
Simultaneous Experience:
- The infinite consciousness pervades all time periods and experiences infinite worlds.
- It remains undisturbed and unmodified, experiencing both sweet and bitter without being affected.
Transcending Perception and Duality
Freedom from Perception:
- When consciousness abandons the perception of time and objectivity, it rests in tranquility.
- This state is beyond description, leading some to declare that the self does not exist.
Realization Beyond Thought:
- Prahlada acknowledged that thoughts veil true consciousness.
- Those trapped in attraction, repulsion, and duality fail to realize this truth, unlike his ancestors.
Salutations to the Self
Praising the Self:
- Prahlada saluted the self, the undivided consciousness, and the essence of all worlds.
- He celebrated reaching and realizing this self, free from perversions and delusions.
Embracing Self-Knowledge:
- He honored the self as the supreme consciousness, established in itself and free from ignorance.
- Prahlada expressed deep reverence for the self, recognizing it as the ultimate reality and liberation.
This reflection captures Prahlada’s profound journey of self-inquiry, realization of the infinite consciousness, and rejection of worldly attachments in favor of supreme self-knowledge.
