Day 207 - Attaining Equanimity Through Pranayama

Day 207 - Attaining Equanimity Through Pranayama

The Practice and Its Benefits

By practicing pranayama regularly and systematically, I have achieved a state of purity and unwavering equanimity. This state of samadhi, or total equanimity, remains unshaken, whether I am walking, standing, awake, asleep, or dreaming. With my focus on the self, I rest in the self, unaffected by changes in the world or environment. I have lived this way since the previous cosmic dissolution, constantly staying present and not contemplating the past or future. I act in the present without concern for results, remaining balanced and peaceful.

Union of Prana and Apana

My state of happiness and health stems from contemplating the moment of union between prana and apana, revealing the self. I avoid vain thoughts of what I have obtained or will gain. I neither praise nor censure anyone or anything, and my mind remains steady, not exulting over good or becoming depressed over what is considered evil. This balance leads to happiness and health.

Supreme Renunciation

I have embraced supreme renunciation, even letting go of the desire to live. This has calmed my mind, eliminating cravings and maintaining peace. I see the same substratum in all things, from wood to a beautiful woman, from mountains to blades of grass, ice, fire, and space. I am not troubled by thoughts of old age or death, nor do I long for happiness or consider some things mine and others not mine. I understand that everything is part of the one cosmic consciousness.

Living in the Present

I do not think of myself as the body, even during physical activities. I see the world-appearance as illusory and live in it as if asleep. I remain undisturbed by prosperity or adversity, viewing both with equal vision. My actions are free from desire and ego, so I do not lose myself in power or beg in poverty. I let go of hopes and expectations, seeing everything with fresh eyes. I rejoice with the happy and share the grief of the sorrowful, as I am a friend to all while belonging to none.

The Secret of Longevity

I recognize that I am the world, its activities, and its intelligence, which is the secret of my longevity. This understanding brings me peace and happiness
