Day 216 - Infinite Consciousness
Day 216 - Infinite Consciousness
The Nature of Divinity
Some divinities like Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva are not deceived by cosmic illusion. They share the true nature of infinite consciousness, like red-hot iron sharing the nature of fire. These divinities are not created by infinite consciousness and do not exist separately from it. They are mere notions arising in ignorance.
In a way, the supreme being is the father of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Infinite consciousness is the only one worthy of worship, but it is so immediate and omnipresent that no rituals or mantras are needed. Realizing this infinite consciousness effortlessly is the best form of worship.
Essence of Awareness
Lord Rudra is described as the pure, spontaneous self-experience, the one consciousness in all substances. It is the seed of all seeds, the essence of world appearance, and the cause of all causes, though it does not actually cause anything. It is the awareness in all sentient beings, knowing itself as its own supreme object, aware of infinite diversity within itself.
This pure, unconditioned consciousness is absolute truth, beyond the concepts of truth and falsehood. It is the terminus of supreme truth, pure absolute consciousness. Yet, it becomes conditioned by desires and experiences, creating the world-appearance.
Paradox of Infinite Consciousness
Beyond Time and Space
Infinite consciousness can be compared to the ultimate subatomic particle, containing vast mountains within its heart. It spans countless epochs but holds each moment of time. It is subtler than a hair's tip yet pervades the universe. It has no boundaries or limits.
This consciousness does nothing yet fashions the universe. It sustains everything while remaining inactive. All substances are non-different from it, though it is not a substance. It pervades all substances without being substantial. The cosmos is its body, yet it has no body. It is the eternal 'now' and the future. Meaningless sounds can become meaningful in communication, just as infinite consciousness is and is not. It transcends logic and truth, existing beyond all concepts.
Advisory to Modern Society
To modern society, this profound teaching highlights the importance of recognizing the unity and transcendence of consciousness. Understanding that true peace and supreme blessedness lie in transcending dualities and illusions can guide us towards a more harmonious and enlightened existence. The realization of our innate, pure consciousness can lead us to a state of eternal peace and unity with the divine.
