The Unveiling of Truth and Dissolution of Illusion
Day 85
The Unveiling of Truth and Dissolution of Illusion
Seated beside King Padma's body, the second Lila devotedly
fanned him, unaware of the presence of the enlightened first Lila and
Sarasvati.
Understanding the Disappearance of the First Lila's
Physical Form
Rama inquired about the absence of the first Lila's physical
body, considering her supposed journey in an ethereal form with Sarasvati.
Vasistha clarified that upon attaining enlightenment, the first Lila's
ego-driven attachment to her physical form dissolved like melting snow. Her
physicality was merely a product of her deluded imagination, akin to dreaming
of being a deer. Upon awakening from the delusion, the unreal vanished, leaving
no trace of ignorance. Such deep-rooted convictions in the unreal as real
perpetuate due to repeated imagination.
Transition to an Ethereal Existence
Vasistha elaborated that a yogi can transition from one
ethereal body to another without abandoning the previous one, akin to changing
forms in a dream. The yogi's body is inherently invisible and ethereal, though
it may appear visible to the ignorant. Thus, when the ignorant behold the
absence of the physical body, they assume the yogi to be deceased. However, in
reality, the ethereal body is the true essence, while the physical form is
merely a creation of ignorant fancy.
Understanding the Nature of the Yogi's Body
Responding to Rama's query about the yogi's physical body
transforming into an ethereal one, Vasistha reiterated that the ethereal body
is the sole reality. Through persistent imagination, it appears linked to a
physical form. Just as an ignorant person's subtle body persists after physical
death, so does the ethereal body of an enlightened yogi. The physical body is
an illusion, inseparable from ignorance. Recognizing their unity dispels the
cycle of repetitive history, known as samsara.
